Abstract
Correction of the flat nose is one of the most popular aesthstic procedures in the Orient. This is comparable to the correction of the hump nose in the Occidental. For nasal augmentation, various implants have been used for many years. They have included carved ivory, plastics, metals, silicone rubber, homogenous and heterogenous preserved, cartilage and bone, autogenous tissue graft. The most widely use implant may be classified into three types; autogenous bone, cartilage, and Silastic?. However, there is no "material for all seasons". Ideally, the tissue substitute should not be physically modified by soft tissue, capable of fabrication in the form desired and capable of sterilization. At the present time, medical grade silicone rubber has been used the most frequently for nasal augmentation, since it is heat stable, time stable, not adherent, not attacked or altered by the body, and elicits minimal tissue reaction. However, there are some drawbacks, the worst being a possible extrusion. Tao reduce the possibility of extrusion in primary augmentation and to repairthe protruded implant, whose tip is covered with conchal cartilage, with good results. We knew that this complex combines the advantages of both silicone rubber and cartilage graft without sharing individual problems.
